Description of Role:
Comfortable with “building things” using blueprints and instructions, able to assemble mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic components on heavy equipment and equipment components.
Expectations of Role:
- Able to review blueprints and specifications needed to assemble various components according to customer specifications.
- Takes questions to the technical leader or supervisor for clarification.
- Ensures each job (work ticket) is tracked appropriately using the company clocking system so time can be billed correctly.
- Comfortable in using measuring tools as well as hand and power tools to complete the required assembly of specific parts.
- Compares Bill of Materials (BOM) to blueprints and brings discrepancies to the attention of the supervisor.
- Maintains open communications with the quality department to ensure their work passes final inspection and is ready for shipment timely.
- With training, can properly use plant computer system to look up parts and determine status. Brings missing and/or unordered parts to the attention of the supervisor so parts can be obtained.
- Review the provided documents to make sure all parts necessary for the assembly of components, identified by serial number(s), are available to complete assigned work.
- Follows appropriate procedures for locating missing parts and advising supervisor.
- Has the ability to conduct function tests to determine where errors may be and what needs to be done for repair.
- Provided input on problems that can be used to resolve problems within assembly team before they reach the customer.
- Participates scheduled training provided by Super Steel and offers instruction to entry-level, base assemblers where and when appropriate.
- Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
This position requires a high school diploma or GED. Five or more years of experience in industrial mechanical, electrical and/or hydraulic assembly operations or similar, and blueprint reading is required as well as a proficiency in using hand and power tools.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good verbal and written comprehension and the ability to thrive in a team environment. Attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, understand blueprints, basic math skills, ability to interpret measurements and use measuring devices as well as hand and power tools is required. Enjoy working with your hands, and having a mechanical aptitude is important. Proper use of overhead cranes is helpful (training and certification at Super Steel). The ability to perform basic (High School) math calculations is required. Work on different projects as necessary when required.

Protective Clothing Required:
The position requires safety glasses and steel-toed shoes or boots and occasional hearing protection. Occasionally the need may arise for other protective clothing that Super Steel will provide.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.
The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts, and in high, precarious places (using safety equipment); and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, near extreme heat (non-weather), and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally performs work-related travel.
Exposure to outdoor conditions and loud noises typical of shop conditions are regular parts of the position. On occasion there may be exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes and chemicals.
