Job Title: WELDER
Location: Mequon, Wisconsin
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under general supervision, the welder is responsible for fitting and joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other materials by applying appropriate welding techniques in accordance with product specifications, job/work instructions and Super Steel processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Super Steel Weld Test and Training Program: Depending on skill level, this class can be one to three weeks (Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:00pm)
- Utilize MIG (and on occasion TIG); GMAW-Short circuit and GMAW-Pulse welding techniques to fabricate and assemble sheet metal products.
- Set up welding machines in accordance with required WPS’s, understand how to change welding tips, and execute daily machine maintenance.
- Set up, lay out, position, align, and secure work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to fabricate parts and/or rework finished products.
- Weld components with welding equipment as specified by job instructions, layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions.
- Interprets and reads drawings to ensure proper weld sequencing and weld sizing to complete work.
- Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Read, correctly understand, interpret, and follow blueprints, job order specifications, and engineering drawings to put defined welds where required.
- Determine and use the correct weld fixture if available.
- Complete and maintain all necessary and associated paperwork and clocking in/out of work order.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Adhere to all SAFETY protocols and QUALITY standards during all welding processes.
- Adheres to the Super Steel Quality Management System (QMS).
- Adhere to all Super Steel and OSHA safety-related work rules and procedures.
- Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, or forklifts safely to move and set large parts to machine or fixture. Super Steel operator training certification is required.
- Will secure, hold, and maintain various Super Steel weld certificates as required.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.
- High school diploma or general education (GED) and three or more years of welding experience; equivalent combination of education and metal fabrication welding experience required.
- Previous experience in an industrial weld metal fabrication environment highly preferred.
- General math skills – required are:
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions.
- Using and correctly interpreting a ruler, tape measure, caliper
- Reading and understanding engineering drawings
- Weld symbols
- Basic hands-on mechanical aptitude required.
- Operator hand tools associated with welding.
- MIG, Flux Core experience required (TIG also desirable).
- Ability to understand work orders, follow procedures, and maintain attention to detail.
- Responsible for own build-in-quality (BIQ), signs work “with Quality”.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments while prioritizing workflow.
- Ability to work well individually or in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; occasionally required to sit and talk; frequently required to hear, walk and continuously stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Continuously exposed to manufacturing noise.
Protective Clothing Requirement:
Employee Safety is paramount at Super Steel. This position requires safety glasses and steel-toed shoes or boots and (where required) hearing protection worn at all times while on the factory floor. Occasionally, the need may arise for other protective clothing that Super Steel will provide.
