SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Plans, directs and coordinates the manufacturing process within the Super Steel plants by designing, developing, testing and repairing a wide variety of machinery and offers suggestions for efficiencies; responsible for a wide variety of manufacturing processes to include fabrication, welding, machining, assembly and tool design.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Prepares design sketches, layouts and schematics as part of the total design team and ensures timely and cost efficient completion of products. Prepares preliminary and detailed design drawings using the Auto Cad or CAD packages and directs the work of production staff and technicians as required.
- Coordinates throughout the manufacturing process with the customer, sales, estimating and other departments as required. Confers with vendors as necessary to ensure proper materials are available when required.
- Confirms system and product capabilities by performing tests, analyzing data, preparing reports and making comparisons to similar designs and systems.
- Develops, evaluates and improves the manufacturing process. Promotes, educates and instills the culture of waste identification and elimination throughout the plant in manufacturing and support.
- Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements and workflow for maximum efficiency.
- Follows the Super Steel Quality Management System (QMS) and makes recommendations for changes and updates to the program as necessary.
- Participates in design of tools and fixtures required to achieve the dimensions and tolerances of critical to quality features specified while considering tooling costs vs project value.
- Provides shop floor support to help troubleshoot unusual situations that are escalated from the shop floor.
- Participates in lessons learned and project cost reviews to identify specific successes, failures and future continuous improvement activities.
- Participates in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities.
- Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Highly reliable, articulate, and confident individual.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with excellent written and verbal skills.
- Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Software Products.
- Strong math skills, ability to read blueprints, experience with ERP and CAD systems ( Solid Works)
- Organizational and analytical skills are required with the ability to accommodate tight deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
